Mansfield District Council's Sports Development Unit was established in October 1997
The multi-faceted role has become an increasingly important part of providing equal opportunities for sport and recreation within the local community.
The sports development unit works in partnership with a number of sports, identified through consultation with the county governing bodies, to develop clubs and volunteers, ensuring the sustainability of new junior sections and encouraging more volunteers into sport.
Aims
- To increase participation in sport across Mansfield in partnership with other bodies
- To support the development of the voluntary sports club network
- To encourage and develop participation in sport in all communities
- To contribute towards raising standards of performance
