Young volunteers

This section will provide information about some of the support that is available to help young people become sports volunteers.

Step into Sport
This is a national leadership and volunteering initiative. It provides a pathway of development for young leaders from 11 to 19 years of age. This includes programmes such as leadership academies, Sports Leaders UK qualifications, community volunteering etc.

Step into Sport  is jointly managed by the Youth Sports Trust and Sport England with the support of Sports Leaders UK, and is coordinated locally by Nottinghamshire County Council in conjunction with the School Sports Partnerships across the county.

The Online Passport
The Step into Sport Volunteer Passport (SISVP) is an online log of the hours that young volunteers delivers sport, either in a school or community setting. These hours can be logged in any of the 6 themes; coaching, officiating, sports administration, media/IT and team management. Basically if the voluntary work is linked to sport and the volunteer is between 14-19 years of age then it can be logged.

National Camp
Every year the Youth Sports Trust host a development camp for Step into Sport Volunteers from across the country.
